The Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo (Cacatua galerita) is a large cockatoo found throughout Australia. These birds are abundant, with large flocks often seen visiting city parks and suburban gardens. Highly intelligent and social, they take their name from the distinctive bright yellow, or sulphur-coloured, crest on their heads.

This painting was inspired by a flock Garry observed while visiting the south coast of New South Wales. It was created using watercolour and gouache on 100% rag board.
